Using the powerful Web Seminar Recorder, you will be able to create amazing videos recording your meetings or anything you can show on your desktop. This includes, audio, music, animated PowerPoint® presentations - even your webcam!

The program has been set with some default settings which will produce above average quality for nearly all types of activity you would record.

Default Settings:

• Export to Flash at 800x600 pixels
• Keyboard hotkey F8 to Start and Pause Recording
• Keyboard hotkey F9 to Stop Recording

The Web Seminar Recorder automatically saves your recorded session in a high resolution .avi file. You will be able to use this video file for editing purposes and for uploading to YouTube, Google, and Yahoo Video services.

Reducing File Size

The .avi video file size will be very large. This is because the frames per second being recorded is set by default to a high rate in order to produce a file which can be easily edited. The file size is also due to the actual screen resolution of the monitor. Most default screen resolutions are much higher than the recommended 1024x768 pixel setting. To reduce the video (.avi) file size, change your screen resolution to 1024x768 pixels while making your recordings.

Adjusting Video Quality

The program has been configured with default settings which produce very good quality videos when speaking, navigating through Windows®, web browsers, or even showing a full screen animated PowerPoint, and when using the 800x600 video setting. The computers we used to determine these setting defaults were a 2.20 GHz Dual-Core, 4 GB Ram. In order to determine what settings will produce the best video quality based on your computer hardware and the type of content you wish to record, it is advised to make a couple of short test recordings.

To increase the quality of your videos beyond the default settings, apply adjustments to the Flash Player Settings screen (shown below), which appears when you stop recording.

If your video output is changed from the default of 800x600 to 1024x768 pixels, you should increase the settings below to improve the image quality. Increase the image quality by moving the sliderbar to the right and by increasing the custom bitrate (left side under video settings) to 1000 or higher.

Important: If your recording includes your webcam video, when the screen below appears, (after the recording), make the following setting adjustments:

1. Move the middle sliderbar to the highest setting
2. Change custom framerate to 20 (or higher)
3. Change custom bitrate (left side under video settings) 1500
4. Uncheck the H.264 box
 

MP4 Video Files

By default, the program will save your recording in .avi, .flv and the .mp4 video formats. Where you save the recording, a new folder "MP4_Video" will be created. This folder contains the video in the .mp4 format, a browser detection script, player, and the recording in the .mp4 format. The contents of this folder are the files which will allow your your video to be played on mobile devices.

Minimum Hardware Requirements

If you have purchased a new computer after January 2008, it will be equipped with a DualCore processor which is much more powerful than what is shown in the chart above and should create flawless recorded videos.
