How to Prevent Audio Break-Up Caused by Anti-Virus Programs
You have reached this page because you may be experiencing audio break-up
in the web meeting room.
The root of the problem is the large amounts of system resources used by
anti-virus programs.
Some programs will filter all the audio and video you send or receive.
However, before proceeding with the assumption that the problem is on
your end, please note that the audio break-up could be as a result of an
Anti-Virus program running on the other persons' computer.
This problem typically occurs with the following programs:
Norton Anti-Virus®
Norton Internet Security®
McAfee Anti-Virus®
McAfeeInternet Security®
Panda Anti-Virus®
Panda Internet Security®
Here are some quick solutions.
1. Close your email program, messenger and VoIP services.
2. Close Internet Explorer, Mozilla, or other web browser.
3. Temporarily disable the Anti-Virus program while using the meeting
room.
If you continue experiencing audio break-up, logout and close the
meeting room. Then follow the instructions below.
In the Windows taskbar, next to the clock, there should be a small icon
representing your Anti-Virus or similar program. If you have selected to
temporarily disable or close that program, the main engine of the
program is likely still running and creating the audio problem. Here is
what to next.
If you are using Windows® XP Home, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del will open the
Task Manager. You can also access it from your Windows Desktop by
right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting Task Manager.
The Task Manager has several tabs running along the top. Click the
Processes tab. The active processes listed do not have logical names.
Make sure you select and then End Task on the correct process, otherwise
you might terminate an important Windows program. If that happens, just
reboot the PC and everything will start normally again.
If you are using a Norton® product, look for one of these processes in
the list, click once to select it, and then click End Task.
• NShield.exe
• navapsvc.exe
• nvsvc32.exe
If you are using a McAfee® product, look for one of these processes in
the list, click once to select it, and then click End Task.
• MShield.exe
• mcvsshld.exe
If you are using a Panda Software® product, look for this process in the
list, click once to select it, and then click End Task.
• avengine.exe
Once you have performed the End Task procedure on the suspected program,
you can launch the web meeting room again. Remember to restart your
Anti-Virus program "after" you have finished the web meeting.
